Having started my journey into the world of Special Education Needs and Disabilities, Social Emotional and Mental Health needs and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties in as a care officer in 2009, over the past 15 years I have had the absolute pleasure of working with the very, very best to deliver amazing outcomes for children and young people across the South-West.Having left school with barely a GCSE, I have worked hard to educate myself to both Degree level, with a BA Open (Hons) Degree with The Open University specializing in the fields of Child Psychology, young lives, parenting, families and mental health, and a Level 5 Leadership and Management Diploma in Health and Social care (Residential Childcare)I have recently been accredited by the NSPCC as a Safeguarding Trainer and was awarded the ‘Certificate of Therapeutic Mentoring’ from The Trauma Recovery Centre, Bath in 2019.I have a proven track record of success and positive outcomes for children and young people, across the field of SEND, SEMH and EBD residential childcare and was instrumental in progressing a residential service from an Ofsted ‘Inadequate’ grading in January 2016 to ‘Good’ in November 2019, as well as a Children's Home from 'Inadequate' in 2022 to 'Good' in 2024.I learned early on, that the keys to successful outcomes are relationships and connections...As a leader, I am a motivated, dedicated, passionate and confident, with an intrinsic ability to rise to any challenge. I am calm under pressure with an open, dynamic, flexible and personable management style that empowers those around me.I pride myself on achieving positive results by exploring alternative approaches to the norm, whilst remaining committed to adhering to ethics, legislation and organisational policies and procedures.I have high expectations of my team and I strive for excellence. I appreciate the difference between leadership and management and am experienced, confident, and knowledgeable in determining which is required and when. I hold mindfulness, sensitivity, confidentiality and supporting staff to enjoy a positive work-life balance as key, to ensuring staff feel valued and appreciated.
