Practiced complex nursing home and related litigation. Drafted novel causes of action against complex corporate structures that own and operate nursing homes nationally for their failure to properly manage and supervise the facilities and the residents of those facilities. Sought recovery of judgment amounts from businesses that assisted certain nursing home corporations with the commission of fraud. Practiced in both state and federal courts.

Practiced complex state and federal commercial litigation, insurance disputes, and other contractual disputes. Earned Shareholder status within first year and a half with the firm due to successful results including reversing a federal forfeiture as first-chair. Part of trial teams including FHA and ADA discrimination actions, breach of contract/reformation action, and a public record violation action.

Supervised staff to ensure compliance with state and deferral rules and regulations including HIPAA regulations, STARK laws, Anti-kickback laws, and Anti-fraud laws and supervised day-to-day overall operations. Assisted with preliminary licensing requirements to utilize for potential future satellite offices. Assisted with restrictive covenants in employment agreements. Regularly attended conferences and seminars regarding cutting edge health care regulation issues to ensure adequate training. Provided ongoing inservice training and mandatory annual training to caregivers and staff.

Assisted policyholders in first party property insurance litigation nationwide in a myriad of lawsuits, including breach of contract and declaratory judgment, agent liability, coverage litigation, and bad-faith. Handled claims ranging from small pipe leaks in single-family homes to catastrophic fires in a manufacturing plant for the nation’s second largest foam plate distributor. Litigated a wide range of property issues within the insurance context. Practiced in state and federal courts across the country, including Florida, Texas, New Jersey, Indiana, and Kentucky. Drafted extensive legal memoranda and attended court regularly for hearings. Took and defended over 100 depositions, including experts.

Prosecuted alleged criminals and protected victims’ rights. Learned the importance of time-management and attention to detail by balancing heavy caseloads with busy trial and hearing schedules. Gained invaluable experience during 13 jury trials, including several as first-chair, and dozens of hearings.
