I created and manage the Strategic Data Resources Department at Overlake Hospital Medical Center. My department brings together, cleanses and integrates data from Overlake's EMR/billing system (Epic) and legacy EMR/billing systems (Meditech, eClinicalWorks, IBEX, PICIS) to create historic and current reporting datamarts. Joined with payroll data (API-HRP), GL/AP/Materieals data (Meditech), budget data (Kauffman-Hall) and data from our cost accounting & contract modeling system (Alliance for Decision Support), this provides the basis for a comprehensive, longitudinal reporting & analysis data set. Centralized, rationalized and verified datamarts ensure that data is consistent with business rules created and implemented over a 20-year period, and provides a consistent "single source of truth" for our internal customers.Reporting & analysis customers include Overlake's Financial Planning, Accounting, Quality, Medical Records/Coding, Operations, and Strategic Planning areas. I and my staff have clinical backgrounds, which expedites our ability to focus on the customer's real issues and provide data solutions. Data solutions are tailored to the end user. Some of our users link to custom SQL Server datamarts using Excel or Tableau, some receive data extracts in Excel for their own use, and for others we provide end-to-end analysis, providing the user with a finished product.
