I help startups grow, jumping in wherever I'm needed. While I've ran Marketing teams, helped with fundraising and just about everything else at a startup, I tend to lean on the technical side of the company. I enjoy building development teams from the ground up, leading product direction and helping translate founder vision to end products. I'm a past programmer myself and combine that with a background covering everything from startup growth to executive management to acquisition.I'm locally involved in:ChicoStarthttp://www.chicostart.comA coworking space focused on tech startups in the Chico area. I started as the Executive-In-Residence to try and build out an initial program, recruit startups and help connect them to the resources we have available in Chico. I've since shifted into an advisory board member role, helping the long term vision of ChicoStart as well as offering individual startup mentoring.Chico State Computer Science Department Industry Advisory BoardI sit on this board to help guide Chico State's Computer Science program in a direction that best prepares students for the jobs that are out there. I represent both the startup community perspective and the challenges of growing local talent for all tech companies.

CtoWork Truck Solutions Feb 2016 - PresentChico, California, UsAfter helping Work Truck Solutions (WTS) grow as a startup in 2013-14, I've rejoined the company to oversee the Product and Development teams. In 2019, I stepped in as Head of Marketplace to lead our team in launching our Commercial Vehicle Marketplace. Leveraging our existing SaaS business and supply side, Work Truck Solutions pivoted into the Marketplace space. After years of eBay, eCommerce and dabbling in building Marketplaces, it felt good to build and launch a Marketplace!Today, I continue to oversee the Product and Engineering team, helping lead our roadmap and strategic direction for all WTS properties. I also oversee the Comvoy Marketplace and our SEM/SEO efforts. -

Marketing And Business DevelopmentDesign By Humans Apr 2014 - Feb 2016Chico, California, UsDesign By Humans is a worldwide recognized brand in the apparel industry with a community of artists from around the world designing art for DTG (direct to garment) printing. My job consisted of a variety of things, as is the case with any small company working hard to take a company to the next level. My time at DBH included:* Collaborate with and lead the marketing team in strategizing a plan to grow both consumers and artists* Provide leadership and management to the social media team, email marketing, and affiliate program* Increased marketing revenue while lowering COS, for example, an 80% revenue increase in Listrak email campaigns* Managed external partners running our Paid Ad campaigns (Google, Bing, Criteo, Facebook), reducing COS by over 10 points* Utilized technical PM background, assisting as lead of projects, QA and overall site improvements* Lead our new marketplace initiatives; eBay, Newegg, Rakuten* Work directly with owners on projections, hiring, partnerships and overall strategy* Growing my personal t-shirt collection (a personally exciting achievement) as documented on drytheglass.com, a t-shirt blog I maintained while at DBH -
Technical Program Manager -- Acting CooWork Truck Solutions Feb 2013 - Mar 2014Chico, California, UsContinuing my desire to work for and help local startups, I joined Work Truck Solution to help with their early stage company growth. My primary focus was evolving the dev team, building out our processes (sprint planning, QA, idea tracking) and long term architecture. I also led the day to day dev efforts, translating company ideas into backlog entries, planning out the dev sprints and ensuring we test, train and smoothly go live. I also helped the founder and team with all aspects of evolving as a startup, including team growth, roadmap planning, fundraising, due diligence and meeting with our key stakeholders, Ford and GM. -
Ceo -- Startup CompanyMarketfleet Jan 2012 - Jul 2012I joined Marketfleet to bring my eCommerce experience and connections to a company looking to take their early stage MVP app to the next stage. When I joined, Marketfleet had a single developer building out a marketplace platform and an investor who didn't have the time to help lead and grow the company. The idea was to partner with large retail sites who wanted to compete with Amazon by offering their own secondary marketplace right alongside their own inventory. Marketfleet would provide the technology and customer support, the retailer would provide the user traffic. In my six months with Marketfleet, serving in a CEO role, we moved out of prototyping and pushed the product live to two different retail sites and made our first sales. The team grew to six people, primarily developers, and had a focus on building out both retailer and seller partnerships. I left Marketfleet, handing the reins over to the original founding developer.

Vice PresidentAuctiva / Alibaba Jul 2009 - Dec 2011It was quite a ride over the last 11 years at Auctiva. From joining a small company looking to figure out how they fit in amongst VC backed competitors, I and the company grew over the years leading up to an acquisition by Alibaba in August of 2010.The diligence process, announcement of the acquisition and the shift to working under Alibaba, not only a much larger corporation, but one based in China, was the most interesting work year of my life.Post acquisition, I stayed on, becoming the GM of the Chico office and COO of Alibaba's overall US companies. Auctiva helped with a number of Alibaba's US efforts, maintained our existing products and also started new initiatives with the context that Alibaba was looking for us to build eCommerce related products and ideas we are passionate about. It was a difficult decision to leave Auctiva, a company I feel I put a lot into building, but it was time for new leaders to step up and for myself to start on some new adventures.

Owner / DeveloperYipe Software 1995 - Oct 2011I started writing computer games during the summers in between my time at Chico State and for a brief period of time I had delusions (dreams?) of going full time with my Yipe games. The original games were written for the Mac as desktop shareware (1995-7) and then later ported to Windows (2003). In December of 2009, in conjunction with a remote developer, an artist and a musician, our little indie team released an iPhone version of Yipe.Over the years, Yipe has maintained a bit of a cult following for the style of parody RPG that it is. From over 3000 paid shareware registrations in the early days to over 15k downloads in the Apple App store, Yipe has an ongoing loyal following. In the bits and pieces of spare time that I have, I continue to work on new versions of Yipe and have progress on an Android version, world builder and a new adventure in the series.
