Our designs have earned numerous valuable US and foreign utility patents across many product categories. Shortly after founding the company, I conceived, designed, and delivered the Genesis Reef Systems suite of high-end products to market. Genesis Reef Systems is recognized for offering the only automatic water change system available in the aquarium hobby, and is praised for product quality and customer service.The company was sold in 2015 to investors in the Chicago area.

Designing card tag printing, cutting, and stacking devices at Monarch exposed me to a wide array of mechanisms, drive trains, gears, clutches, sensors, and motors. Additionally, I utilized various techniques to test and analyze the designs, including high-speed cameras, scopes, and other measurement equipment.I was awarded a patent for designing a mechanism that dynamically controlled the separation point of a linerless label from its roll carrier, improving print quality and reducing noise created by the handheld stockroom printer.Monarch Marking Systems has since been acquired by Avery-Dennison.
