About Kevin Kolack
Dr. Kevin Kolack is a professor of chemistry at Queensborough Community College (QCC), where he has been teaching 11 different courses for over 10 years. (Prior to his full-time appointment at QCC, he was an adjunct professor at 6 other schools of varying sizes for more than 15 years.) He is a leader in online teaching and learning, having developed the QCC Chemistry Blackboard Organization, a platform that hosts more than 100 hours of instructional videos that he personally authored, covering more than 70% of the courses offered by the department. He also taught the first online course in the department in 2015, and was instrumental in facilitating the transition to remote instruction during the pandemic. He is a CUNY Mindset Fellow and a co-investigator in a multimillion-dollar NSF grant that involves collaboration with four other universities. His mission is to promote environmental education and awareness through his teaching and his show, “The Professor K Show,” a topical, educational TV program that he wrote and starred in. He has an eclectic training background that includes Chicago and NYC classes and seminars, as well as a PhD in Chemistry and a BS in Chemistry and Buddhism. He is also certified as an EMT, a firefighter, and a hazmat technician, and has worked in various fields such as movie theater management, floristry, helicopter piloting, and taxi driving. He combines his creative writing and acting skills with his ear prompter and voiceover skills to produce engaging and informative content for various audiences. He is passionate about exploring new challenges and opportunities in both his academic and artistic careers.
