UBC Aerodesign is a student engineering design team that designs ~2m wingspan fixed body planes for the SAE Aero Design competition. As the most software-experienced person on the team, I have made critical software architecture decisions to maximize our chance of winning at the SAE AeroDesign competition. I have written code in many domains, spanning computer vision (OpenCV), web applications (React, Streamlit), GUIs (PyQT), networking (ZeroMQ, websockets) and more.Technical experience aside, I have also mentored other members, leading tutorials and presentations on Git, object-oriented programming, and Python. I review my teammates code and coach them towards solutions when they need help.

- Created a web dashboard to allow for easy monitoring of devices being tested at Tesla by technicians and managers, saving ~$200,000 of engineering time a year.- Automated and abstracted hardware reliability tests using Python, allowing for user-friendly interfaces to complicated electronic testing systems and hardware- Created an internal GUI/web application to increase bandwidth and resilience of test data downloadingNote, this position started as an internship in Fremont, from Sep-Dec 2022. From January to May, I was allowed to continue my internship part-time and remotely, and I started an internship with a different but similar team in Palo Alto from May 2023 onwards

- Worked on the Ruby Dependency Security team, which focuses on improving the Ruby ecosystem through security updates, outreach, and creating strong software conventions- Contributed to the team's multi-factor authentication initiative by contributing features to open-source Rubygems repositories, primarily using Ruby on Rails- Investigated the relationship between the top 100 Ruby packages and their dependencies, creating graphs, recommendations, a show-and-tell video, and a blog post

Sauce Labs is a rapidly growing company that offers a massive automated testing suite for websites and apps, with the mission of ensuring digital confidence.In my 8 month internship, I:- Drove major automated testing features (Selenium 4, Windows 11, and Mac 12) from start to production primarily using Python and DevOps tools- Won a hackathon by creating a modern, intuitive, web-hosted pipeline-running GUI that enables easypipeline preset creation, sharing, and variable selection. This project is going to be open-source soon!- Used Agile development tools like Jira, Miro, Confluence, and Zoom to communicate with an 8-person team- Participated in design architecture discussions and problem-solving

UBC Snowbots (now UBC Rover) works on autonomous/controlled land rovers for the Canadian International Rover Challenge.During my time with UBC Snowbots, I wrote ROS C++ software to interface with inputs and outputs such as Nintendo Switch Controllers, BLDC motors, cameras, routers, and sensors. After working on individual electrical and software components in my first two years, I took on the role of Systems Integration Lead and performed end-to-end tests. This involved connecting a Controller to a computer (with firmware that I worked on), which communicated across two routers to an Intel NUC, which was connected to sensors, cameras, and motors, which was of course over a kilometre away.

In my time at SNOLAB, Canada's neutrino and dark matter research facility, I had the opportunity to assist many PHD researchers in their endeavours to learn about our universe. Because of the incredible knowledge that surrounded me, I was able to learn in-depth about the physics of the phenomena being studied and the engineering challenges that were being overcome as well. Some bullet points of what I did:- Worked on the strategy and development of the Radon Reduction System to decrease the amount of Radon gas in the underground laboratory, which is a major source of interference for the sensitive neutrino detectors.- Analyzed Radon monitor data from the SNO+ neutrino detector using C++/ROOT scripts- Wrote a heavily reviewed article explaining Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay, one of the main phenomena being studied at SNOLAB, in layman's terms (see link below).- Operated a large engineered piping/valve system to transfer 1000+ litres of Linear alkylbenzene (LAB) scintillator underground for the neutrino detector.

Game of Apps is a Lower Mainland-based organization that teaches middle school and high school students the basics of app development and design.Under the mentorship of Game of Apps mentors, I took part in a 2-month internship developing a Java Android app that would help GoA deliver quizzes and lessons to students easier. I supervised 4 developers/designers and communicated with 2 other subteams that were collectively working on the Android and iOS versions of the app. I mainly did front-end development but communicated heavily with the back-end developers.

Sold honey and other products from the beehive as a retail member at the PNE's Honeybee Centre store (August 2017, 2018) and at a kiosk at Guilford mall (December 2017, 2018). At both locations, I was responsible for counting money at the end of the day, balancing the totals, and closing the store/kiosk.
