I was fortunate to have been the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for five companies, each in a different industry, stage of maturity, and competitive environment. Today, I draw on these diverse experiences to help companies disrupt and defend markets, innovate for competitive advantage and stabilize and grow their businesses.As employee #3 and CIO at Orbitz, I led the launch of the online travel website. We developed an innovative search engine, disrupted the distribution of travel, and grew the company as fast as a Boeing 747 flies. Using this experience I design and lead strategies for companies interested in technology innovation, speed, and growth.I was the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the first Obama presidential campaign. We pioneered the use of social media for fundraising and data analytics in politics by using the same strategies that I leverage at commercial enterprises.I left the startup world to join GTCR, an established private equity firm. We digitally transformed the environment with new CRM, HR, Compliance, and Fund Accounting systems.At Transdev, I led the company’s strategy to combat the disruption that Uber brought to the transportation industry. We built internal digital competencies to improve our ability to compete and we acquired transportation technology firms to diversify our product offerings. Having led initiatives on both the giving side of disruption at Orbitz and the receiving side at Transdev provided great context for my next venture into consulting.Today, as a consultant at CIO Services, I help firms assess the current state of their technology and build strategic IT roadmaps to achieve higher business performance. I lead strategic initiatives, provide advisory services, and fill interim leadership roles.
