Prior to embarking on my library journey, I worked in the Entertainment Industry for over 30 years, with a great deal of energy and success as both a screen and stage performer and eventually as a Casting Director for film and television. My extensive work in these areas included coordinating the multi-layered process of auditioning, educating and hiring actors, as well as negotiating the directors' creative visions with the producers' financial needs. In addition to my artistic pursuits, education has always been very important to me. I was a valedictorian of my high school class and graduated Magna Cum Laude from New York University’s School of Education with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies, focusing on public speaking. I achieved my Master of Arts in Teaching from the prestigious program at Pepperdine University with a 4.0 GPA. Following that I taught Theater Arts to elementary and middle school students for many years through a non-profit organization called PS Arts. And although books have permeated throughout my varied career paths (including inspiring young minds while student teaching, as well as bringing stories from page to stage in Theater Arts classes), they have come front and center as I continue my MLIS program to ultimately become a Children's Librarian.
