In July 2005, I traveled to Uganda on a volunteer placement, and the next month changed the course of my life! I am deeply passionate about about global social justice and believe strongly that every person on this planet.....(Yes, that means you) has a part to play in creating a better world in which we all live.Currently I am working with Irish NGO, Nurture Africa. Our work is focused upon providing life saving healthcare, educational support and economic empowerment opportunities to vulnerable children and their parents/guardians in Uganda. Each day that I spend in Uganda is equally humbling as it is inspiring!In my role, I am fortunately tasked with recruiting, training and (hopefully!) helping to transform, volunteers into actively engaged global citizens through the time-frame of our overseas placements from pre-departure training through to the returning home phase after the overseas volunteer experience. My goal, is to hear our volunteers say: "this is not acceptable", and then assist them to do their piece to make the world a better place. Last but not least..... I am a keen marathon and ultra marathon runner. I like to try to find my limits, and push beyond them! Travel is also a huge part of my life. I've learned more than I could ever have imagined on my travels around the world. Most especially.....life is here to be lived. How I do that, is my choice!
