During my undergrad I took two internships, one with St. Jude Medical and the other with Alcon Labs. I learned a lot about about lean manufacturing, cad modeling, cnc programming and other basic engineering skills in those roles. After my undergrad I decided to get a masters degree in mechanical engineering and I accepted a thesis project that required me to work with a Polytechnic school in Milan Italy for 6 months. The thesis was the discovery of the mechanical properties of glycosaminoglycan, a molecule responsible for the stiffness in our joint tissue. I used computer models and algorithms to do simulations of the molecules over time to gather the data needed for the thesis.During my time in college I worked part time at Ernie Ball Music Man in San Luis Obispo. After completeing my degrees I accepted a full time offer and have been working for EBMM even since. I have worked on new product design, implemented many manufacturing methods and tools, worked with overseas manufacturers, developed a patent and produced parts for that patented design.Over the last 4 years I have been focused entirely on automation and robotic solutions to manufacturing guitar components. I have successfully implemented 2 automation cells that produce guitar parts, reduce labor costs and quality issues. During my time designing, managing, and implementing these projects I've learned many useful skills including, automation cell design, controls design, automation safety, robot selection, robot programming, PLC programming, HMI programming, Smart Servo motor programming, electrical schematics, controls wiring and more.Around this time I started doing some automation and machine building consulting on my own time, including building a servo chop saw stop, and a pet door life cycle testing machine for Petdoors.com. The people at petdoors.com were great to work with and I ended up coming in full time as the Director of Engineering. Now I am focused on product development, manufacturing and future automation of pet door products.
