Head Swim Coach

Hazel Grove

Hazel Grove Leisure Centre Jackson Road Hazel Grove

I have worked on a voluntary basis as the Head Coach at Hazel Grove and Bramhall Swimming Club for the last 20 years. The club has over 400 members ranging from beginners to masters and I manage a team of 15 teachers and over 30 volunteers. I fully intend to continue to serve as a volunteer for as long as I feel my efforts are accomplishing something, that my talents are appreciated and that I am making a difference. Some people are uncomfortable with the idea that a volunteer benefits from doing volunteer work, based on altruism and selflessness but I think of it as an exchange and I know that I have benefited myself from volunteering. My resolve to continue is strengthened when I can see the benefits that others receive from my efforts and because it upholds the self-esteem of those with whom I volunteer.
