I currently serve as the Vice Chancellor & Chief Campus Officer for NCSSM-Morganton and joined the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in January 2017. My career has largely centered on Honors education - first at the University of Maryland and then at East Carolina University - where I designed, built, and grew special programs and communities for talented young scholars. This work led me to my current role at NCSSM where since 2017 I have led the development and opening of the 18th campus of the UNC System at NCSSM-Morganton.Beyond this work, I am deeply engaged in Burke County and throughout Western North Carolina. My current service roles include serving as Chairman of the Board of C2Life Foundation, serving as a board member with the Burke County Chamber of Commerce, the WNC Bridge Foundation, and the YMCA of Catawba Valley, and serving on the steering team for the Industrial Commons Innovation Campus, the Work in Burke initiative, and the Appalachian State University Hickory Campus Advisory Council.
