I'm a Product Manager at Coremont, responsible for all the analytics, calculations and functionality for pricing, risk, valuation and p&l that our buyside clients rely on. I use my subject matter expertise and business experience gained in the financial markets and fintech industry to design, resource, build and deliver our systems and services through my teams of developers and analysts covering the rates, FX, equities and commodities asset classes. I typically deliver around fifty projects a year, ranging from small projects of a few days work for a single developer to large-scale operations across many teams with timescales of several quarters. I also utilise my project management experience to implement change across the company, such as leading the transformative shift to a product-led organisational system of feature teams, or implementing a resource management structure for the Quantitative Analysis department.During my years at Bloomberg I worked in senior roles across Sales, Client Support and Product Management, creating success in the different pillars necessary to grow a client revenue business. I learnt a lot from working alongside the people that grew Bloomberg from a handful of staff to the giant enterprise it is today, such as how to formulate and execute sales strategies based on identifying trends amongst potential clients across different regions and industry sectors; how to manage the delivery of enterprise-level mission-critical systems from pre-sales through contract signature to final implementation and sign-off; how to design, create and develop the products that clients want to buy; how to train a class of young do-ers and leaders and equip them with the knowledge and skills to take the company forward, how to speak to a small group and a large audience, how to write for a global readership, how to motivate, how to mentor, how to plan, how to assess, and how to help, Prior to that my experience came from the financial markets: for many years I was a portfolio manager and trader at major investment banks, with a mandate to deliver P&L through market-making to clients and position-taking in the interest-rate and fixed income markets. I created strategies based on monetary and macro-economic forecasting along with algorithmic trading models I built from statistical analysis of large-scale data. I learnt that he secret to generating P&L was to actively manage every aspect of my business, from execution, pricing, hedging and risk management to marketing, new business focus, strategic development, building new systems and funding.
