Fulcrum Analytics is a database direct marketing firm specializing in advanced analytical customer modeling and campaign management. As part of the team which developed the customer data warehouse for a retail client, my accomplishments at Fulcrum included: • Executed and delivered dozens of direct marketing campaigns, meeting tight deadlines to produce high visibility client deliverables • Improved the efficiency of the campaign engine and the underlying business process, which reduced the cost of marketing efforts and allowed faster turnaround on campaign deliverables • Developed response reports to measure return on marketing campaign efforts, enabling better decision making when choosing which customers to market to • Developed and ran ETL packages and batch jobs which integrated and conformed data from several point of sale systems and web feeds, which provided the most complete customer-centric data mart in the enterprise • Developed frequent ad-hoc client reports for measuring repurchase cycles, customer relationship lifecycle management, and campaign forecasting • Managed ongoing householding, suppression processing, and acquisition of demographic data to provide the most complete customer information for analytical model scoring and segmentation • Executed several list acquisitions and merge-purge jobs to grow the customer base • Deployed email campaigns directly using Exact Target, cutting out the cost of using external vendors for email deployment

HealthMarkets is a health insurance company which sells individual and small group insurance plans. My role at HealthMarkets was to provide database development and support for a claims processing engine which was integrated into several analytic applications and which implemented several insurance product plans. My accomplishments in that role included:• Automated a multi-step claims processing workflow, which increased the speed of analyzing new requirements and reduced the time needed to deliver solutions.• Designed and developed a data transformation process which integrated medical claim rules with application data and immediately detected many costly errors and inconsistencies.• Developed several ad-hoc reports, which assisted decision making in compliance analysis, product development, and application requirements analysis.• Identified and corrected an index design flaw on a production server that caused production services to deadlock and crash unexpectedly, which freed crash recovery resources and reduced service risks.• Developed an application to access claims data, and created a stored procedure API to support it. This application provided analysts with access to claims data, reducing the overhead needed to send data requests through the IT department.• Designed and built a J2EE service application which integrated an internal claims analysis component with a claims processing workflow provided by an external business partner, removing our reliance on an outdated and expensive component which performed the same function.• Designed and built a Java stored procedure which parsed very large XML structures using JAXB and the Oracle XDK. This application reduced the cost of manually reviewing claims processing behavior.• Customized the SalesLogix CRM application to provided contact management and workflow automation services to recruiting agents, allowing them to more efficiently manage their campaigns.

Metropolitan State College of Denver is one of the largest four-year colleges in the country, with well over 20,000 enrolled students. As an adjunct faculty member for the mathematics and computer sciences department, I taught several sessions for students enrolled in lower-division algebra and statistics courses.
