Reported directly to the VP of R&D. Created and tracked multi-million dollar departmental budgets. Oversaw project schedules and ensured that the department's objectives were met on time and within budget. Provided technical leadership. Technical accomplishments included: Leading teams responsible for identifying, specifying, and evaluating the next generation of dispersion compensation technologies including the in-house design and development of fiber bragg grating based technologies. Simulating/modeling and verifying the effects of dispersion, dispersion slope, and group delay ripple on network performance. Designing, developing, and supporting optical circuit-packs for Nortel Network’s ultra long-haul 10 Gb/s DWDM transport system (OPTera LH4000). Specifying and verifying the performance of DWDM lasers, APD receivers, transceivers, passive components, and parallel optical interconnect devices used within the OPTera Metro Solutions product portfolio.
