As the Assistant to the General Manager, I provide project management and oversight for the entire mining operation for the General Manager. My duties range from labor relations, underground construction management, budget analysis, building construction management, and mining engineering. I touch all aspects of the operation to ensure that finite details are attended to.

I work with the Corporate Longwall Group travelling between facilities assisting or supervising; longwall production, longwall maintenance, and longwall moves in both union and non union labor environments. My daily work spans from providing technical advice to hands on application for training of current employees and supervisors.

I work with the Vice Presidents of Operations with a variety of production, maintenance, and special projects for our three operations located in Western Kentucky. My duties include maintenance planning, setting production standards, and outby maintenance and rehabilitation, encompassing roof fall cleanup, belt line rehabilitation and dewatering system installation.

While at Anchor Longwall and Rebuild, I was employed in the underground construction and maintenance group. My duties consisted of constructing and repairing underground and surface conveyor drives and take up systems, performing maintenance on chutes and scraper systems, performing maintenance on production equipment on the working section, and working in machine shops rebuilding mining equipment.

My research consists of developing and testing a second generation wireless borehole extensometer for use in MSHA inspection boreholes.

As an operations intern I performed time studies on full face miner sections in gate sections and in the mains. I also have experience as a red hat foreman leading crews on longwall setup and teardown. I have also served as a foreman on compliance crews.

As an Operations Intern I have experience in underground surveying, coal sampling, and strata measurements. I also have experience working in the Continuous Improvement department standardizing and performing time studies to increase mine section efficiency and identify production limitations. I also worked in the coal preparation plant performing plant operation, plant maintenance, and engineering improvement projects.

As an undergraduate researcher I was in charge of sample testing and project scale up and testing for the Department of Energy Coal and Biomass Briquetting project. Initially my work consisted of assisting in small scale testing of coal and biomass to determine the ideal formulation and preparation of the briquettes for transportation and storage. After research was completed in the late summer of 2013, I was placed in charge of large scale production and testing.
