Teaching Chemistry and Physics A level and other sciences to years 7 to 13. Year 13 form tutor.

Whilst I get well, with or without more surgery, I am busy writing papers on Geoethics of Sand Mining in Madura, Indonesia, Mineral Museums in NW Romania and the Rocks and Minerals of Bulgaria.

Worked with the Director and coordinated with the Administrator, Education staff and the Curators on developing the activities of the museum at all levels from University level to amateurs.Duties: · Project management of major exhibitions to commemorate events such as Darwin's bicentenary exhibition and the 150th anniversary of the Museum. · Responsibility for preparing project bids and management and accounting of budgets valued between £200,000 and £700,000. · Working in partnership with design and installation companies to renew and develop displays within the museum court and galleries, resulting in an increase of visitor numbers from 238,000 to over 500,000. Display themes: Gemstones, Geology of Oxford, Vertebrates, British Birds, Botany, Insects and Rocks. · Presentation of papers regarding the work of the Museum at International conferences. · Outreach work including television appearances. · Presentation of lectures to the Oxford Geology Group, the Cheltenham Geological Society and the National Trust. · Managed the `Feeling Good' project with a budget of £729,000 which involved the re-display of invertebrates (56 cases) and systematic fossil collections (34 cases), development of evolution (9 cases) and primate displays (9 cases) and the introduction of large, touchable natural history objects. The project was completed on time and on budget.2000 - 2003 Assistant Curator for the Petrological CollectionsDuties: · Collection of rocks from several localities, Scotland, Norway, Germany, Zimbabwe and USA. · Electronic cataloguing and publication of the nineteenth century MacCulloch collection. · Production of online databases for the MacCulloch collection and Accession Series of Rocks. · Co-supervision of a Masters student studying the mineral chlorophaeite.

· Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in optical mineralogy,igneous petrology, economic geology and computer skills (including word processing, spreadsheets and specialized geological applications). · Supervision of several Honours and Masters students' projects. · Co-supervision of PhD students from Cambridge, Edinburgh and Portsmouth universities. · Chairman of Faculty of Science Regulations sub-Committee with responsibility for rewriting undergraduate and MSc course unit regulations. · Management and organisation of student field trips within Zimbabwe and other southern African countries. · Management of a project to compile a detailed database on all mineral deposits in Zimbabwe in collaboration with the Association of Rural District Councils. This involved controlling and accounting the project's finances and managing data, and resulted in legislation changes.
