I led Starbucks as its president and chief executive officer for over 5 years working in service of over 400,000 Starbucks partners who proudly wear the green apron. With an approach that honored the legacy of the company while at the same time reimagining the future, we delivered record setting growth driven by beverage innovation, expanding digital customer connections to 45M, and growing our global store footprint to 35,000. Our leadership team navigated the pandemic staying true to the mission and values of the company. At the peak of the COVID shutdown, we provided Starbucks partners economic certainty, and we gave free coffee to frontline healthcare workers and first responders. As the recovery progressed, we made record investments in wages, training and benefits for Starbucks partners. I am proud of my Starbucks partners and grateful for the experience. I first joined the company in 2009, serving on the company’s board of directors eventually becoming the company’s chief operating officer and then its CEO in 2017. Over the course of my 42-year career, I’ve helped scale global businesses, including 16 years at Microsoft and five years as chief executive officer of Juniper Networks. I also had the great privilege of serving under presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama on the National Security Telecommunication Advisory Committee. I retired from operating roles in 2022 and am now focused on helping this next generation of young leaders. I serve on the boards of Goldman Sachs, Twin Health, and Amperity.
