I am the Managing Director of the venture capital fund of a $100B market cap semiconductor materials engineering and manufacturing equipment company called Lam Research Corporation (NASDAQ: LRCX). In this role at Lam Capital, I invest in and support entrepreneurs who are developing differentiated solutions to hard-tech challenges in advanced materials, manufacturing, compute hardware, and Industry 4.0. Being able to help them realize solutions to difficult problems using game changing technologies is for me an exciting, worthy, and rewarding pursuit — and a generationally unique opportunity given the current pandemic. My path to VC investing emerged out of a career-long passion for driving development and adoption of emerging technologies and products into high growth verticals such as Sustainable Agriculture, Renewable Energy, Consumer Electronics, Industrial, and Additive Manufacturing.Throughout my career, I've spearheaded product development, marketing, and business development for a diverse set of technologies and products including agricultural products, advanced materials, energy storage, photovoltaics, IoT sensors, semiconductor flash memory, printable silicon inks, nanosized LED phosphors, optical coatings, and optical networking systems — experience that’s hopefully valuable to lean on for partners and entrepreneurs. Having been CEO of a venture-funded hardtech company, leader of a new venture within a Fortune 500 company, and startup co-founder, I'm drawn to entrepreneurial environments and strive to pay it forward by helping fellow entrepreneurs — for example as a mentor with the MIT Venture Mentoring Service working with Silicon Valley entrepreneurs.
