Originally responsible for the day to day operations of the smaller store (of 2) in the franchise, I was quickly given the role of dual site manager assuming day to day responsibilities for the entire franchise becoming responsible for 2 store teams and a field sales team. Responsibilities include; training of staff of multiple skill sets, ensuring all teams hit both individual and store targets consisting of sales and KPIs, ensuring the health and safety of all 3 environments, monitoring sales and procedures to ensure no breaches as an FCA regulated company. I also deputise for the Franchise Owner assuming full responsibilities for the business when required.

As part of a management team of 8, I often assisted with the day to day running of the store of 145 employees. I was given full accountability for my assigned departments within the store including; Commercial decision making including visual merchandising and Stock ordering for departments. I would deputise for floor manager in their absence and also be responsible for the opening and closing of the store. I was also responsible of Health and Safety of the store, as the Environmental Health and Safety manager, achieving an EHS Audit score of 94% in my last audit before leaving.

As the manager of the largest department I often found myself assisting store manager in day to day running of the store. I was given full autonomy to merchandise products how I felt appropriate and would often liaise with company buyers to maximise availability of high selling products as well as products that I felt suited the local area. I was also responsible for the coaching of staff to develop merchandising and customer service skills as well as providing them with the tools to ensure they achieved KPI targets. The store had a team of 30 – 35 staff members of different ages and cultures and was a newly opened store starting from scratch.

I was responsible for the day to day running of my department, managing a team of between 2 and 8 staff members of different ages and cultures. For a brief period, due to lack of management, I was tasked with running the store as part of a two person management team taking on responsibility of all departments across 3 floors. I would often open and close the store as well as cash up tills at the end of the day and prepare money to be sent to the bank in the mornings.

Originally hired as Assistant Manager, I was promoted during the Christmas period after delivering impressive results during the busy period. As a small store of between 4 and 8 staff members I was required to be very hands on and found myself leading by example to ensure store achieves targets, merchandising stock to maximise sale potential and dealing with customer returns and refunds on a daily basis alongside my managerial responsibilities of shift planning, Weekly and Monthly health and safety checks, actioning disciplinary procedures when necessary, staff recruitment and ensuring the store is presentable and of a high standard.

Stating off as a Part-Time Sales Assistant, I worked my way up to Supervisor and in the absence of an Assistant Manager, I deputised for the store manager. As my first job I seized every learning opportunity possible expanding my knowledge across the store so that I could help out in all departments and not just the one I was responsible for, this eventually lead to full time hours to cover a number of departments and during my time at the store I assumed a number of roles; Gait Analysis Specialist, Bike Technician, Golf Technician, Head Cashier, Stock Room Supervisor, Footwear Supervisor, Accessories Supervisor and Textiles Supervisor.
