Hi there, my name is Kevin. I'm a technical writer with experience in software. I currently work at Mi9 Retail, where I create and manage end-user documentation, user guides, and technical assets for a diverse audience. I'm skilled in using industry-standard tools like MadCap Flare, Oxygen XML Editor, and Jira. I collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for multiple products. I own document sets that I migrated from traditional Word docs, and use them to create structured documentation with a reuse strategy.During my time at Tecsys, I developed structured content in Oxygen XML for various products and also maintained online help. I frequently interviewed SMEs while documenting complex software features. My biggest achievement at Tecsys was developing a user and parameter guide with a tight deadline for a new customer. I received very positive feedback from my manager and product teams for the completed deliverables.I previously taught international students phonetics and communication, and wrote textbook material at SGIC Toronto. I started teaching part-time while at University, and started full-time after graduating. I provided students the tools they needed to accomplish their speaking goals, whether it was for conversation, public speaking or phonetic accuracy. I learned from this position that I have a passion for helping others understand complex ideas, which is why I wanted to become a technical writer.I enjoy finding the best way to explain complex concepts in an approachable way to a diverse audience. I'm into tech, have experience in creating graphic/video media, and have curiosity for how things work.
