Through the Research Science Institute (RSI) at MIT: a six-week research program with regular evening lectures from Nobel laureates and professors. Conducted research at BIDMC under the guidance of Dr. Glenn Rosen, analyzing changes in neuron positions of rat brains due to suppression of a gene similar to one linked to human dyslexia, KIAA0319, which plays a major role in axonal guidance during neuronal migration. Neurons were shown to be more dispersed and migrated to cortical layers that they usually do not occupy. Despite widespread changes, neuronal connections were anatomically preserved, as observed by their continued connection back to the thalamus.
