My career in education started as a 7th and 8th-grade science teacher at Dake Junior High School. I was fortunate to be mentored by amazing teachers and school leaders, and as a result, I had many opportunities to grow and further develop my instructional repertoire to best serve students. From classroom beginnings, I transitioned to an assignment where I was able to "pay it forward" to a new generation of educators. My role as the Director of the WICSD Teacher Center was a unique one. Annually, the TLC provided almost 200 professional development opportunities for staff. The TLC contracted with outside agencies and in-house PD providers, but I facilitated a majority of the professional learning programs. I assessed teacher needs relative to individual professional goals and worked to design relevant meaningful professional development. I also directly supported classroom teachers to integrate technology and to model instructional strategies. In that position, I grew to become an instructional leader. Now as a district leader, I continue to collaborate to set the vision for teaching and learning at the pK-12 level. I create systems to collect and analyze instructional data and problem solve with colleagues in order to meet complex student needs and promote their growth.
