I help faculty organize coursework, explain math concepts to students while making connections between calculus and biology, hold office hours and/or review sessions, and overall help the students improve and nurture their current understanding of the subject.

My job includes: creating the “First Impression” for the Campus Recreation facilities; Open and close program areas within Campus Recreation buildings; Assist in safety, security, and risk management protocol for facilities; Spot clean facility/fitness equipment as needed and put away any equipment left out by guests; Perform scheduled room checks and counts; Attend staff meetings, and maintain professionalism at all times, either while assisting members or attending to other work tasks.

Student employees work overnight shifts (midnight to 8:00 a.m.) and enjoy working with people and providing great customer service to fellow Penn State students and guest(s). The position requires excellent customer service skills as well as taking organizational initiative.

The Youthful Offenders Program is an alcohol and drug education program for persons cited for underage drinking, and similar offenses, inCentre County. Developed by Community Help Centre and approved by local District Judges, the program offers offenders an alternative to the standard fine and the permanent criminal record carried by underage drinking. Instructors have completed our 180 hour training forhotline and crisis intervention support, which focuses on drug and alcohol information and intervention skills, communication skills, and appropriate referrals to community services. Instructors undergo a probationary period during which their abilities to utilize active teaching methods, provide appropriate guidance and boundaries for students, adhere to policies and procedures, and work constructively with co-instructors are closely monitored.

After receiving a 16 hour Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and over an accumulation of 120 hours of training, I was able to become a crisis hotline volunteer where we help the community if they call in about basic needs such as rent, clothes or food, and or assist those who want and need emotional support such a depression, anxiety or other mental and emotional stressors.
