New Glenn (NG) is an orbital heavy lift rocket capable of putting 45 tons of payload into low earth orbit with a reusable first stage. My role as LSE is focused on avionics architecture development for new vehicle configs, requirements capture, automated verification, safety analyses, and systems engineering processes within the avionics orginization.

People manager of avionics systems engineering team that is responsible for specification process, avionics interoperability/integration between boxes, integration to vehicle subsystems, and verification planning of these. Starting from a team of 0, built a delightfully capable, experienced, and silly team of 10 people to get New Glenn to its first flight.

Responsible for requirements development, validation, systems integration, and verification of avionics embedded control systems on a new orbital rocket, New Glenn, for Blue Origin.Standardization, fleshing out, and mentorship of processes for systems engineering and requirements in the Avionics dept. Authored and deployed the New Glenn Avionics Requirement standard to set clear expectations of good requirements practices across the team.

Led Avionics Hardware system verification effort, verified ~200 system requirements in 3 months with a team of 15 people. Authored the requirements spec, verification cases, test scripts, and ran hardware qualification testing for Embedded Controllers on NS Crew Capsule. Set up process and mentored fellow hardware engineers on requirements capture and verification.

I provided on site engineering support as a central point of contact to the customer of all UTAS systems on the Boeing 787-10 for 2 flight test aircraft during the entire 11 month duration of the 787-10 flight test campaign. My responsibility was to diagnose and fault isolate system integration issues with UTAS parts. UTAS systems on the 787 include Electric power (generation, primary/secondary distribution, emergency, engine start), air management, electronics cooling, thrust reversers, brakes, cargo handling, lighting, and others.

Responsible for research and development of new technologies and system architectures for future aircraft. Works closely with Aircraft OEM customer to determine their needs, and to guide the evolution of our products to align with customer needs during Bid and Proposal efforts for new aircraft.Key areas of specialty: Airborne electronic communications, Systems integration, Software development

Performed requirements-based system testing on communications busses for the Boeing 787.

Inception of automated process for auditing requirements traceability for DO-178B. Wrote the “Trace-Audit Tool” in Python to perform a bi-directional traceability assessment.
