Casa De Amparo is a 501c (3) non-profit organization in Oceanside, California that houses children who have been removed from their homes as a result of abuse or neglect. I taught in the elementary school on the grounds and gave presentations to potential donors. The school is connected with the Children's Shelter, which provides short term emergency care, group and individual counseling and support services to 24 children, ages 6 to 17, for a period of one day to several months while the strengths and weaknesses of the child and family members is assessed and a long-term living arrangement is confirmed.
