Responsibilities I provide intake, psych/socials, treatment plans and treatment goals. I provide group, family, and individual counseling each day with patients and their families. Discharge planning such as: finding placement with nursing homes, educating families on options for their loved one, and walk them through court orders and the difference between power of attorney and guardianship. I also talk with insurance providers to provide them with the appropriate information about the patients. I work with staff, nurses, and a psychiatrist as well as families and nursing home staff. Accomplishments I believe that my biggest accomplishment has been providing support and education for the families. Most of the families are bringing their loved one to a locked unit for the first time and it is a scary time for them. They are not sure what to expect and I help provide them with this information and support. I meet with them often after their loved one has been admitted to help educate them about mental health issues as well as dementia and Alzheimer's. Skills Used My counseling skills have allowed me to excel. I use compassion, genuineness, honesty, and openness. I'm well organized and I am a people person. Being a people person assists me when making relationships with patients, families, staff, and surrounding community. I have worked diligently to educate myself about the services provided in the surrounding areas. Knowing the local doctors, nurses, and nursing home staff helps the families to feel less overwhelmed.

Provide therapy to aging patients.

I will be providing counseling to the clients that live there on campus as well as some of their families. I specialize in children dealing with loss and abandonment, anger and hurt, trust issues, profound abuse (sexual or physical) I believe the kids need to feel you are a genuine person or they will not believe or trust you.

Collaboratively work with a licensed professional counselor in the management of children and family needs.  Educate client on practice of anger management, boundaries, coping skills, living skills, family life, social skills, school issues, and behavior skills. Establish and maintain a great relationship with school staff and families to assist them in working together. Work with adults with alcohol and drug issues, mental health issues, crisis counseling, or with adults who have suffered from child neglect.

FOR DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN ADOPTIONS - Performed executive level administrative functions relevant to the successful oversight of the statewide organization including budgeting, profit and loss, and direct management of staff supporting the pre- and post-adoption process. Represented and promoted organization and program through public relations and marketing opportunities by means of public speaking, community event organization, fundraising, and media relations. Established a more consistent means for maintaining the budget forecasting in a proportional manner to the incoming and outgoing financial expectations.  Utilized collaborative communication skills in identifying and executing program goals. Educated families concerning adoption process; interacted with the community to promote the program. Spearheaded the Northwest part of Wisconsin as well as with the entire state in performing budgeting, hiring, employee evaluations, pay increases, as well as employee dismissals.

Responsible for recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of care coordinators and mentor/monitors covering 15 counties in the North West region of Wisconsin. Under my direction the YES program has expanded by three counties (Marathon, Trempealeau, and Pierce) and one YES office in Wausau. Other offices include Barron, La Crosse, and Eau Claire. Responsibilities also include:Forecasting, budgeting, billing, and managing staff to meet and exceed these goals Intervene for care coordinators with families and Department of Health and Human ServicesMaintain public relations within the community, media, as well as public speakingRecruit non participating counties to the YES ConsortiumMonthly meetings with county supervisors for "out of the box" thinking to determine best case scenarios for families with autistic, mentally ill, sexual offending children Acquiring donations for the programs, the families, as well as Lutheran Social Services.

Non-profit Foster Care and Adoption Organization headquartered; Awarded agency of the year by The National Foster Parent Association.); Responsible for recruitment, hiring, training and supervision of five foster-care workers as well as eighteen foster families and 50 to 65 foster children. Under my direction the program grew from the original size of two foster-care workers, ten families and twenty three children to the current size.
