I was practicing as an independent architect and designing architectural projects for clients in different cities across the country. It was a great opportunity for improving my skills & ideas as an architect through real life application. Nonetheless, this enabled me to improve leadership skills by taking charge and be solely accountable for.​

I have been researching on ‘affordable community led housing’ under Parween Rahman Fellowship-2015. The action-based research program is aimed to build resilient housing through community participation and register the impacts. Using tools like community mobilization, awareness & capacity building, workshop, training, mapping, planning, design and participatory construction. ​​

As an architect at UPPRP, I have designed low-cost houses for more than a hundred families as part of secured land tenure and housing component of the project. I have also worked closely with my supervisor to develop a well functioning ‘ten step process’ of participatory housing improvement by mapping, planning, analysis and design. The process is now being adopted in many Government and Non-government programs throughout the country.

As an architect in a research oriented architectural studio,​ I was responsible for researching and designing quite a few projects. Namely, A resource center in Urdhu-speaking refugee camp (Geneva camp) in Mohammadpur, Dhaka; a transitional shelter for street children in Babubazar, Dhaka; a craft center and a community based tourism village in Tangail district are among the most noteworthy ones. I have also co-curated exhibitions sharing our works in Institute of Asian Creative, Gulshan-2, Dhaka and in EMK center, Dhanmondi, Dhaka. Which was also exhibited in the Rich Mix center, London, UK.

I have collaborated with the team in quite-a-few award winning extraordinary architectural design projects during my time in Shatotto. Key responsibilities were design development, architectural drawing and model preparation.The opportunity of working with teams of multidisciplinary professionals and craftsmen allowed me to improve my communication skills to achieve efficiency in design development discussions and maintain highest quality and accuracy of the work in project sites.

With the affordance of a working student in a creative design company, I was involved in many interior design projects including Banks, residences, shops and pavilion for many popular brands in exhibitions and fairs. Design development, drawings & 3D modeling and presentation preparation were among major tasks. ​This employment alongside my studies oriented and allowed me to understand the relationship between the practical details of construction with design and work ethics of the profession.

I was preparing the conservation documents (primarily for research and exhibition), consists of architectural drawings, 3D models (computer generated and scaled mock-up), capturing & editing photographs and compiling survey documents.My involvement with the architecture studio focusing on architectural conservation provided with the opportunity of learning technical details of architectural conservation and an exposure to the complicated process of conservation in the context of old Dhaka along with it’s pressing challenge.This experience allowed me to gain hands on experience of field research in congested & contested urban areas, with a better understanding of urban morphologies of Dhaka.
