I am currently Clinical Lead for the Community Rehabilitation Team, leading a team of Specialist Speech and Language Therapists and associated clinical supervisory responsibilities. I am responsible for overseeing the delivery of rehabilitation therapy in the community including clinical governance and audit.On a day to day basis I liaise and interface with a range of clinical stakeholders ranging from GPs and other primary based referring clinicians to specialist secondary and tertiary care teams. As a senior Therapist and Clinical Lead I manage a complex clinical caseload which includes those with rapidly progressing conditions such as Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Motor Neurone Disease. I am also responsible for the Service development and quality improvement agenda for our Speech and Language Therapy service.

I moved out to the Middle East in 2012 and joined HMC's Rehabilitation Centre and a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist working in a completely different environment and with a far more diverse caseload to what I had been working with previously. Key Aspects of Role:• Delivered Specialist therapy to adults with acquired neurological conditions across both inpatient and outpatient settings.• Joint Service Development Lead for dysphagia pathways across all HMCs hospitals which included the implementation of the Modified Barium Swallow study and the design and implementation of the hospitals swallow screening protocol.• Represented Speech and Language Therapy teams on service and quality improvement initiatives across the organisation. • Worked as part of a multi-disciplinary team which included consultants and a range of Allied Health Professionals to jointly review cases, put in place goal based management plans and deliver robust discharge planning on the wards.

Key Aspects of Role:• Co-ordinated and led the delivery of specialised Speech and Language Therapy to adults with a wide range of acquired disorders of communication and swallowing across the inpatient, outpatient and community settings.• Provided communication and swallowing training to relevant MDT's, qualified/non-qualified ward staff, Specialist Nurses and health care professionals as appropriate.• Provided support and mentorship to Newly Qualified Practitioners and community support workers.• Led the development of the bilingual services within the adult team and awarded the 2010 Inspirational Awards for service improvement in Bilingual and Minority Ethnic communities. • Developed therapy groups in the community to deliver group based support and rehabilitation including a Parkinson’s Speech group, a Total Communication group and a local Speakability group.
