As Head of the Commerce Department, IGSCE Teacher, subject reviewer and planner for IGCSE Business Studies and IGCSE Enterprise, my role includes (the list is not exhaustive): - Curriculum development; designing and updating the commerce curriculum, ensuring it aligns with Cambridge educational standards and meets the needs of students.- Instructional planning and organizing the teaching and learning activities within the commerce department, ensuring effective lesson plans and teaching methodologies are employed.- Department Teacher observations and supervision, supporting the commerce teachers, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities to improve teaching standards.- Student assessment, overseeing the assessment process, including examinations, assignments, and projects, to ensure fair and accurate evaluation of students' progress.- Assessment and data analysis; overseeing the assessment process for commerce skills, analyzing data to evaluate students' progress, and using the information to make data-driven decisions to improve instructional strategies.- Providing Interventions and support; identifying struggling students and developing intervention plans to help improve their commerce skills.- Collaborating with other department heads and school administrators to ensure a cohesive and integrated educational experience for students.- Communicating with parents/guardians regarding students' progress and addressing any concerns or queries they may have.- Organizing, participating, and coordinating commerce-related events, such as the 'Enterprise week', workshops, and field trips, to enhance students' understanding of real-world applications. - Integration of technology; incorporating digital resources and tools to enhance learning experiences.
