I am a therapist committed to culturally sensitive and accessible therapy for all couples, families and individuals. I have recently graduated from Drexel University with a MFT from their Individuals, Couples and Family Therapy program. I have a wide range of experience in the mental health field including behavior health work servicing inner city minority youth, integrative health care collaborating with physicians at Drexel Primary Care as a mental health provider and therapist intern at Drexel University Individual Couples and Family Therapy clinic servicing diverse clients with various presenting problems.My approach to therapy is strengths based and collaborative to help clients develop new and constructive ways of being in their given context through a culture and trauma informed lens. I believe healing can be achieved by telling our stories and witness our resilience and strengths and breaking free from what is no longer serving us. I have been trained by leading figures in the field through Drexel’s MFT program and have gained thorough knowledge of clinical application of classic and post-modern therapy approaches. Their social Justice focus has also afforded me a deeper understanding of the role of culture, power, privilege and oppression on the minority and underprivileged communities that I am passionate about servicing and how to create safe therapeutic spaces that are culturally sensitive and conducive to their growth and healing.In line with my social justice and mental health values, I maintain the connection with the community through active advocacy and volunteer work. Much of my work has been centered around advancing minority youth through my mentorship role and educating those in positions of power. I have presented at College Board Conferences to inform educators of important cultural and psychological factors when teaching African American students and have also presented in Arusha, Tanzania with Mwangaza group to inform Tanzanian teachers of the relevance of mental health and how it shows up in the classroom. I have focused much of my work on youth as I believe proactive early intervention is necessary for prevention and breaking the cycle of trauma.My hope is to be able to connect with others who share similar goals of prioritizing mental health and overall well-being and are interested in deepening and broadening the conversation. I am looking forward to the mutual exchange of learning from and teaching others in their respective fields and building community centered around growth and connection.
