My background is in Afghanistan, and I think when people hear that, the first thought that comes to mind is war and death, but in reality, Afghans are resilient. My main goal is to change the ideas that come into people's minds when they hear the word Afghanistan. I am hard-working, patient, and willing to learn new things daily. I chose the science industry because it constantly changes as new research and developments emerge. The labs have always been my happy place, no matter the circumstance and place. I am doing my third year at Conestoga College in the Biotechnology Technician diploma and then returning to the University of Waterloo for my fourth year to complete my biology undergrad degree.I hope to work in a lab and further advance scientific research, create new drugs for cancer, for example, and much more. I love the field of genetically modified organisms, and I hope to go more into that research area as well. Whatever the future holds, I hope to use the knowledge I learn throughout my years of learning to help people and make it more accessible, as we are all human.
