• Integrating environment and climate interventions in country projects/programs in Asia and the Pacific Region (APR). • Mobilizing supplementary funds and management of the climate finance portfolio in APR.• Mainstreaming of climate finance for APR portfolio and coordination of mainstreaming themes• Supervision and implementation support to climate and environment focused projects, as required in APR.• Support IFAD country strategies and project concept notes development and design as a technical expert in integrating climate and alignment with climate finance priorities.• Contribute to ECG technical papers and non-lending activities related to climate risk assessment and climate services.

Kathmandu

• Engage in new project designs as an Environment and Climate Change Specialist to work on Social, Environmental and Climate Assessment Procedure (SECAP);• Support Nepal, Bhutan, and Cambodia IFAD country programs on project design, implementation and supervision missions, midterm review, project completion, and technically support on quality project implementation; • Support projects with Monitoring & Evaluation and Knowledge Management and also integrating Climate Change measures in the implementation of activities on the ground; and• Support Project Management Offices on project management.

Key assignments:Team Leader: 'Post Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) survey on the tiger conservation efforts' – WWF Nepal. The study covered 11 buffer zone user committees of the Chitwan National Park (Nepal)-Parsa Wildlife Reserve (Nepal)-Valmiki National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary (India) complex, Nepal. Forest and Climate Change Expert: ‘Feasibility Study for Conservation Area in Jaljala and Surrounding Landscape of Rolpa District in Karnali Province’- National Trust for Nature Conservation.Team Leader: 'Assessment of Effectiveness of Participatory Monitoring Evaluation Review and Learning (PMERL) Committees in monitoring the climate change adaptation interventions' - WWF Nepal. The study area was five mid-hill districts of Chitwan Annapurna Landscape (CHAL), Nepal. Team Leader: 'Assessment of the effectiveness of Behavioral Communication Change (BCC) in conservation' - WWF Nepal. This study was carried out in Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Rupandehi, Dang, Banke and Bardiya districts of Nepal. Team Leader: 'Assessment of Michelia Champaca conservation in Chitwan Annapurna Landscape (CHAL) area’ with WWF, Nepal. The study area covered four districts of CHAL and three districts of Terai Arc Landscape (TAL) area of Nepal. Team Leader: ' Pre Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) survey on the tiger conservation efforts' - WWF Nepal. - Review the status and trends in wood use for packaging and the literature on mitigation benefits arising from this.- Calculate the annual CO2 emissions avoided through wood use in packaging and find out where is the potential, its economic costs and benefits and barriers in realizing the potential based on online surveys.- Prepare a draft chapter compiling the results of the tasks above and redraft this based on comments provided by others.

Pokhara, Nepal

Main tasks:Lead in research activities at Mountain (Mustang) and Midhill (Kaski) of Nepal to the project with the overall objective 'to contribute to the understanding of dynamic forest-poverty links in Nepal’. These includes: - Finalize the research tools,- Prepare the training manual for local enumerators and train them,- Involve and monitor the socio-economic data collection,- Engage in the biophysical data collection from the permanent forest plots,- Conduct series of meetings with stakeholders,- Communicate with supervisor,- GIS map works, - Prepare the database on SPSS/ MS Access, data entry, data cleaning and analysis, and - Support on report writing.

Main tasks: - Facilitate Community Forest User Groups (CFUG) to prepare and revise their operational plans, - Support CFUGs on GIS map preparation, forest inventory, and data analysis, - Facilitate training on forest management, Forest governance, and accounting systems.
