ASAS aims to uphold and ensure professionalism among Shariah advisors and experts in Islamic finance as one of the strategic thrust outlined in the Financial Sector Blueprint 2011-2020 with funding and support from Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank of Malaysia). ASAS is mandated to gain international recognition as the body responsible for enhancing the qualification and professionalism of Shariah advisors nationally and internationally. The function is to head the Secretariat of ASAS supporting the EXCO in all aspects of the transformation of ASAS into a professional body with its own Certified Shariah Advisors (CSA) and Certified Shariah Practitioners (CSP) qualifications and CPD programmes up and running in the second half of 2017 onwards.

Official Correspondence• To deal with and carry out official correspondence of the University on all academic, administrative and other matters, as may be directed by the Board of Governors and the Vice Chancellor5. University Committee• Serve on or chair university committees as appropriate6. Business Strategy & Development• Proactively seeking local and international opportunities in the area of student recruitment/sponsorship, research, CSR and other identified collaboration7. Legal Support• To provide legal support and intellectual property protection and management matters8 . Overseeing the Registry Group consisting of External Relations Department, Admission and Bursary Department, Examination Department, Records Office and International Office.

Responsibilities include: Patent, copyright, industrial design, trademark and trade secret protection and commercialisation.Recovery of student and staff debts.Entertain pre and post litigation matters.Initiate and conduct student trial with student disciplinary committee.Draft, vet and approve all MOU and MOA.Initiate and conduct domestic inquiry procedure with appointed panel members.
