Production Shift Manager In Steel Making Plant
• Responsible to ensure that the shift meets all production targets in terms of safety/environmental, quality, output and costs. Directs and coordinates the activities of Melt Shop and Caster Shop operation up to the Rolling Mill. Coordinates the operations of the EAF, LF and CCM to maintain efficient and smooth production.• Liaises with Foreman Casting and Foreman EAF/LF to enable efficient coordination between the two sections to optimize plant performance.• Coordinate the activities of service sections like slag/scrap, materials handling, DRI, refractories and maintenance to eliminate/reduce delays.• Maintain good standards of discipline in my area and take the necessary actions to meet the standards.• Optimize the use of plant equipment, workers and materials assigned to melt shop throughout the work period ensuring continuity between shifts.• Initiates ideas, leading to improve efficiencies/output of the plant.• Monitors the data relating to quality and raises proper complaints with the appropriate Engineers and Manager.• Follow up on the execution of product cost reduction plan to identify potential areas for cost reduction.• Manage spending against budget and in relation to changes in production volume.• Provide strong leadership to the employees at his area, ensuring high morale, team work and good employee relations, at all levels.• Complete performance appraisals for shift personnel.• Trains new staff in their required duties. Ensures comprehension of safe working practices and checks compliance with the Company's policy and procedures.
