Mentor: Amy Csizmar Dalal, PhD | Professor of Computer Science• Explored the mechanisms people utilize to troubleshoot their personal home networks, by analyzing a database of ~20,000 support tickets of online tech support interactions logged at Carleton College• Utilized state-of-the-art vector space models and techniques in natural language processing, such as Word2Vec and T-SNE, to find differences in terminology within and between help-seekers and help-givers• Derived more effective and user-friendly troubleshooting tools and scripts from these interactions• Presented my research at the Louis Stokes-North Star STEM Alliance 14th Annual Kick-Off poster session, at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities

• Performed a case study analyzing the makeup of the digital base within the past year, detailing their demographics and ideology on key issues, to inform current political organizing and grassroots efforts • Cleansed database, stored on Civis Platform, containing the contact info of thousands of endorsed political candidates, grassroots organizers, and voters through de-duplication and updating erroneous data points• Reorganized neglected parts of database through merging related schemas and tables• Maintained the automated scripts pulling various data from multiple sources, such as text banks, to Civis Platform

Interactive Robotics & Vision Lab

Mentor: Junaed Sattar, PhD | Computer Science & Engineering, Assistant Professor• Investigated the capability of robots that are deployed underwater to determine depth and direction of movement from a diver’s pointing gesture via stereoscopic video• Employed standard principles utilized in computer vision, such as image rectification and camera calibration, to obtain disparity maps from over 5,000 stereo images, collected in an IRV lab field trial• Developed a scale-invariant, image rectification process using the FLANN matching algorithm that is utilized to rectify stereo images from other IRV lab field trials• Presented my research at the Louis Stokes-North Star STEM Alliance 15th Annual Kick-Off poster session, at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities
