Infrared detector materials development.Experimental Solid State Physics, Semiconductor Materials Science, Nano-science and technology for optoelectronic and solar cell application: Materials analysis and modification using high energy ion beams, ion-solid interaction, heat treatment; growth, analysis of micro-nanostructures using ultra high vacuum techniques involving ion/electron beam, molecular beam epitaxy, vapor deposition; analysis of micro/nano-structures by using SEM, Raman spectroscopy XPS, XRD and AFMAchievements: • Set up and manage an analytical laboratory that houses 2.5 MV Van de Graaff accelerator for materials characterization, XPS, AFM, µ-Raman, FTIR, XRD and Hall Probe and RTP and other processing equipment. • Semiconductor materials characterizations expertise with accelerated ion beam led to the development of “Amethyst Wafer Mapping (AWM)” as a successful analytical toolset for use in failure analysis of detector materials and devices.• Set up a focused ion beam line for nuclear microprobe.• Semiconductor materials characterizations expertise with accelerated ion beam led to the development of “Amethyst Wafer Mapping (AWM)” as a successful analytical toolset for use in failure analysis of detector materials and devices.• Developed a novel technique for synthesizing SiGe-on-insulator and Ge-on-insulator (GOI) thin film template as universal growth substrates, which significantly contributed a process development for III-V and II-VI materials on Si-platform. • Highest mobility InSb thin film integration on GOI substrate for optoelectronic application.

• Set up and manage infrared materials characterization and processing laboratory. • Manage and regulate radiation producing equipment (accelerator, XRD, XPS, XRF). • Direct laboratory safety regulations and training.• Provide analytical service to internal and external customers, prepare report, publish & present data. • Develop systems and experimental design for defect passivation in heteroepitaxial thin film in wafer level and yield improvement in devices (Infrared detector based on HgCdTe, SLS and nBn, solar cells and thermoelectric materials)• Business development for analytical service and research collaboration• Seek external funding and take research initiatives and manage DoD and DoE funded projects.
