As Head of IT department, my responsibility was to formulate and execute Information and Communication Technology (ICT) policies, to achieve company business targets, including; improvement in customer services, improvement in operational efficiency and reduction in energy losses (IESCO is number one DISCO in Pakistan with min. T&D losses and maximum collection percentage (Pvt. Customers), and a reasonable (low) operational cost. NEPRA graded IESCO as # 1 DISCO for FY 2013-14, 2015-15, 2015-16, 201617, 2017-18 and 2018-19). During my tenure, following goals are achieved: i. A state-of-the-art IESCO Call Centre has been established which remained operational from Jul, 13 to Oct, 14 and then replaced with Cloud based Mobile CRM “ROSHNI”. It remains in operation till the end of 2017 after which MoWP decided to establish centralized Call Centre for all DISCOs replicating the IESCO concept to facilitate the customers at central level. ii. Successfully supervised Automated Meter Reading (AMR) Pilot Project, by US (Telecom) and Turkish (Meter) companies. iii. Meter Reading through Hand Held Unit (HHU)/Smart Phone. After a successful pilot in a Division, the same has been implemented in entire company in Aug. 2015. iv. Geographic Information System (GIS). Played a vital role in GIS implementation in IESCO. v. On-line MIS, application implemented, to facilitate the field officers, for performance improvement in recovery and losses. vi. Worked with ADB consultants’ group for preparation of feasibility report, PC-1, RFP and tendering (process/evaluation) to implement Advanced Metering Infrastructure in Rawalpindi circle and modern billing system in entire IESCO. Project consist of smart meters, Head End System (HES), Meter Data Management (MDM) and Customer Care and Billing. This is 1st mega project in Pakistan, based on latest smart meters and information technology, selection of implementation partner is at final stage.

Worked as head of IT Department (Administrative and Financial) in the company. Major responsibilities were to formulate and execute Information and Communication Technology (ICT) policies for IESCO to achieve company business targets towards improvement of customer service, reduction in energy line losses (IESCO remained number one company in Pakistan with lowest losses i.e. 7.8%(Distribution) 9.78% T&D for financial year 2009-10). 100% collection of revenue, with a reasonable (low) operational cost. During this tenure following goals achieved: i. Bill printing changed to Machine Readable (Bar Coded) from conventional Bills printing. ii. Customers have been provided online bill payment facility through commercial bank’s website/ATM network and NADRA KIOSK machine; more than 50% customers are using this facility now. iii. Duplicate bill printing and Internet view facility on IESCO Web Portal. iv. Automation of Marketing Cell, Complaint & Monitoring Cell, Village Electrification. In addition, IESCO assignments I remained the member of a high level (WAPDA Level) ICT Steering Committee which made policies and approved ICT projects for WAPDA/PEPCO’s 09xdistribution companies, 03xGeneration and 01xTransmission Company. I am also member of IESCO Tariff Petition, cost of service and IESCO annual performance report committees. Visited Malaysia in June 2008 on behalf of PEPCO (WAPDA) as a part of three member’s team to study ERP solution.

Worked at Computer Centre to supervise computer operations according to business policies for electricity customer billing as well as provided network and hardware support to entire company.Also worked with software development team in addition to my original responsibilities.I worked in Planning and Engineering Directorate onIV proposals.

Responsible for computer programming and IT related activities for Hydro Electric Projects running with the collaboration of GTZ (A German Organization). I remained in-charge of IT Cell for whole tenure.

Worked with a team of Computer Programmers and System Analyst to develop software for WAPDA Electricity Customer Billing System using COBOL, RPG programming languages on IBM's VSE/SP and DEL's VMS environment.
