Independent and nonpartisan, we are an invitational membership organization and think tank, serving as a center of gravity and incubator of policy and leadership for the criminal justice field. New Yorkers United for Justice (NYUJ), a broad coalition ofdiverse nonprofit organizations from across New York, will launch a statewide campaignfocused on updating the state’s outdated criminal justice policies. NYUJwill work with the Governor, the legislature, and other stakeholders to ensure that the Empire State is at the forefront of a bipartisan national movement to make New York safer and ensure that our system doesn’t continue to prey on the poor and communities of color.

The Legal Action Center is the only non-profit law and policy organization in the United States whose sole mission is to fight discrimination against people with histories of addiction, HIV/AIDS, or criminal records, and to advocate for sound public policies in these areas.
