I designed analytical methods for quantitative elemental analysis in complex matrices, including trace metal determinations and metal speciation analyses in cell culture media. During my time at Clemson University I contributed to 7 peer-reviewed publications, received a competitive Doctoral Dissertation Completion Grant from Clemson University, received the Mandel Fellowship for outstanding productivity in the Department of Chemistry, and was awarded the Graduate Faculty Award for outstanding service to the Department of Chemistry.

As a teaching assistant for the instrumental analysis laboratory in the Department of Chemistry at Clemson University, I was in charge of teaching students how to use the departmental ICP-OES instrument. My duties also included keeping up with routine instrument maintenance, basic instrument repairs, and running samples for multiple groups in the Department of Chemistry. I taught junior level undergraduate students how to properly prepare samples for ICP-OES analysis, the basic principles of ICP-OES operation, and how to set instrument parameters for various analyses. I also graded their lab reports and provided feedback on their oral presentations.

As a teaching assistant for the quantitative analysis laboratory in the Department of Chemistry at Clemson University I facilitated laboratory classes for junior level undergraduate students. I taught these students various basic laboratory techniques, gave lectures in proper laboratory notebook management, and guided students in writing lab reports.

As a general chemistry laboratory teaching assistant in the Department of Chemistry at Clemson University, I was responsible for teaching freshman level undergraduate students the basic principles of chemistry lab. I gave lectures on course material relevant to lab topics, assisted students with developing lab experiments, taught students basic lab techniques, and gave feedback on lab performance. I was also responsible for grading students' lab reports and providing feedback on their oral presentations.

As a computer science teaching assistant, I oversaw the 101 level lab course with blocks in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access. I wrote, administered, and graded assignments relating to the Microsoft Office Suite and consulted with the lecture professor about course topics and student progress.

My work in Dr. Cliff Calloway's lab focused on instrumental development. I developed methods for tungsten filament atomization instruments for rapid speciation of trivalent and hexavalent chromium. During my time as an undergraduate research assistant, I developed standard operating procedures for the lab, optimized instrument operating conditions, and made good headway in the speciation effort.
