If there is one thing I would do only for the joy it brings me, it would be connecting with people and building relationships. In my experience, being a sincere and down-to-earth person will gain you traction in any conversation. Add in a sense of humour and a smile, and you've got the whole room paying attention to what you have to say. That's who I try to be everyday, the best version of myself. Being a Project Manager has been like learning to drive a stick-shift car. It can be difficult to get things going because you have to rely on so many moving parts. But once you can engage the right people, motivate them to action their deliverables and meet the project timeline, its just as satisfying as a perfectly executed up-shift into sixth gear as you begin to relax into a cruising speed. I enjoy being a facilitator, motivator and even being the bad-guy if needed. I've grown to trust my colleagues and partners and being able to rely on them has allowed me to take on complex projects at my current role. If I were to highlight the single most rewarding moment of my time as a Project Manager, I would immediately point to a piece of feedback from one of my clients - "Fardeen has a calming effect in high-stress situations". Growing up, I never had the sparkly grades. But when I got off the plane in Toronto back in 2010, suddenly my perspective had changed. Almost felt like I had aged 16 years over my 16 hour flight. I put myself into high gear and completed high school as an Ontario Scholar and headed for a Bachelor's in Nanotechnology Engineering at the University of Waterloo. What was going to be 5 year journey in education, took a total of almost 7 as I graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts. Although I did not complete the Engineering program, looking back now I realize that I had learned so much! I had dipped my toes in such a magnificent variety of courses and topics that I gained a love for learning that remains strong to this day. Although hope is not a project plan, I do hope to connect with leaders and cohorts in the Logistics, Warehousing and 3PL industries to expand my horizons and build a career I can be proud of.
