Currently, I work as a postdoctoral scientist to reveal the functional role of mutated proteins which have been linked to neurodegeneration. I optimized a platform to generate iPSC derived motor neurons from CMT patient to first perform mechanistic research and then move on to perform semi throughput assays. I have gained microscopy skills ranging from in vivo live imaging to high-resolution microscopy to record and analyse imaging data to have solid quantified data. I was able to accelerate the research project by being immersed in the core facilities of the University of Antwerp, KU Leuven and Vlaams Institute voor Biotechnology (VIB)

After my academic career, I have developed a set of skills to work in different roles on multidisciplinary projects. As my first postdoc in the division of neuroscience in San Raffaele Hospital in the neuroimmunology lab of Gianvito Martino, I learnt how to run cell-based screening assays in semi-throughput format on patient-derived oligodendrocytes in the multiple sclerosis field. I experienced and performed transplantation assays plus animal behaviour testing followed by a set of histopathological evaluations.
