About Ali Khansefid
As a PhD holder in the field of structural/earthquake engineering, during the past 12 years, I have several experiences in both academia and industry. My main work/research area is "Structural Resilience Design” against the catastrophic hazards. An intersection between hazard simulation, structural design, and risk and resilience evaluation. In more details topics like, the hazard modeling itself, the structural vulnerability analysis, the application of new mitigation system including the passive and active vibration control systems, performance-based design, probabilistic simulation, resilient-based structural performance assessment and risk modeling are among my interest to work on. In addition, I have several experience in the design and construction of buildings equipped with vibration control systems in iconic projects.
Listed skills include Structural Engineering, Sap2000, Etabs, Autocad, and 40 others.

Senior Scientist
- In this position, funded by the #TUM in the framework of the #TUFF fellowship, I dealt with the seismic risk assessment of masonry buildings due to Geothermal Power Plant (GPP) activities. The main parts of this.
- Gathering event and ground motion data of the induced earthquakes by geothermal power plants.
- Developing a probabilistic model for simulating the earthquake events that occurred due to the GPP activity.
- Developing ground motion model for the signals recorded in the field due to the GPP activity.
- Developing fragility and comfortability curves for the masonry buildings due to the GPP-induced earthquakes.
- Evaluate the seismic risk of a masonry building due to GPP-induced earthquakes by considering both building damage and its occupants' comfort disruption.
Structural Engineer Manager
I worked in Arka Behsazeh Atin Tehran as the CEO and senior structural engineer of the company which concentrated on the application of the seismic protection system in new and existing buildings as a structural engineering company.
Lecturer
- During this collaboration period I taught the following course in different years:
- Modeling and Design of Dampers and Base Isolation
- Seismosoft Softwares (SeismosSignal, SeismoMatch, SeismoSpec, SeismoArtif, SeismoStruct)
Scientific Member Of Risk Management And Insurance Committee Of "Special Board On Iran Flood Report"
- Scientific member of the "Risk Management and Insurance" committee of the "Special Reporting Committee on Iran Floods 2019" established by the Iranian president after a major flood occurred on March 2019 in a large.
- Evaluating the efficiency of the existing insurance procedures in Iran for a natural disaster.
- Evaluating the available rules and procedures for developing and constructing urban and rural areas in Iran with an emphasis on protecting systems against natural disasters.
- Extracting a list of lessons from the great flood of 2019 from the risk and insurance management point of view.
- Proposing solutions for the government to increase the resilience of the cities against flood.
Lecturer
- During my collaboration with the Islamic Azad University, I taught the following courses to the B.Sc. students:
- Static
- Mechanic of materials
- Steel Structures 1
- Fundamentals of Wind and Earthquake Engineering
Phd Research Assistant
Senior Structural Consultant
TCI twin tower project is one of the iconic construction projects in Iran consists of two 36-stroy towers equipped with rotational friction dampers. In this position, I served as the highest level advisor of the client for designing, procuring, and installing the structural system and rotational friction dampers in the buildings.
Structural Engineer And R&D Expert
In this position, the main target was to research and implementation of new Structural Vibration Control systems, especially the 3D spring isolators and 3D viscous dampers, in the construction projects as a new seismic protection technology. In addition, I collaborated in the design process of several tower buildings equipped with friction dampers.
Structural Eng. & Construction Technical Expert
My tasks in this position include the structural design of new buildings, budget planning of the new construction projects, and quality control of the ongoing construction of residential and commercial projects.
Structural Engineer
As a junior structural engineer, I collaborated in the design process of office buildings oil plant, indoor multi-purpose sports stadium, and industrial structures, and Gardeshgary tower with friction dampers.
Civil Engineer
In this position, I worked as a site engineer in a 5 story commercial complex in Tehran with an area of 11000 m2. This building also is working as "Darvaze Shemiran" subway station. So, it is located on top of the subway train pass. There were several challenges for the excavation, stabilizing the subway lane below the building, constructing the structure.
