Humera Khan is an accomplished executive with over two decades of international experience in policy advisory, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement for multinational organizations, government agencies, and the private sector. As the President and co-founder of Muflehun, Humera has led policy and program design since the organization’s inception. Most recently, she pioneered new methodologies utilizing explainable machine learning to enhance the primary prevention of targeted violence, terrorism, and gun violence across the USA and Canada, as part of the Community Resilience Early Warning System (CREWS) platform.Previously, Humera served as the Strategic Advisor to the Assistant-Secretary General of the UN Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED), while also managing the Countering Violent Extremis (CVE) & Countering Terrorist Narratives portfolio. She was also a policy consultant on a DOD MINERVA funded project researching propaganda campaigns by terrorist organizations. As a recognized subject matter expert in preventing, countering, and mitigating extremist violence, her expertise is highly sought after by various agencies and organizations, including UN CTED, UN OCT, GCTF, GCERF, OSCE, DoS, USAID, and DoD. Humera has testified before the U.S. Congress about Muflehun's initiatives and has been honored with the FBI Director's Community Leadership Award. Before founding Muflehun, Humera was a principal at a Washington, DC-based think tank, where she developed and integrated threat anticipation and risk assessment methodologies for government clients. Humera holds four degrees from MIT: SM Technology & Policy, SM Nuclear Engineering, SB Art & Design and SB Nuclear Engineering. She also earned an MA in Islamic Studies from an affiliate seminary of the Washington Theological Consortium.
