Formed in 1925, DCA promotes arts and culture as a way to ignite a powerful dialogue, engage LA’s residents and visitors, and ensure LA’s varied cultures are recognized, acknowledged, and experienced. DCA allocates over three hundred grants annually in the support of nonprofit arts and cultural organizations and individual artists. As a panelist, I researched and reviewed artist proposals and advocated for their funding.

California Arts Council, is a state agency based in Sacramento, United States. Its eleven council members are appointed by the Governor and the state Legislature. The agency’s mission is to advance California through the arts and creativity. As a panelist, I researched and reviewed artist proposals and advocated for their funding.

As Events Director, I managed a team of four Co-Directors to produce monthly and occasionally bi-weekly design oriented events at Helms Design Center, Herman Miller and The Unique Space. These were mostly speaker-driven events, but also included a 24-hour student led Designathon, a panel discussion on diversity and inclusion, and a typography workshop. In addition to identifying and confirming appropriate speakers for each event, the Events team collaborated with the Communications team to create the right messaging and promotion. Events also designed its own speaker appreciation stationery, created AIGA LA’s first Spotify channel and organized an end of year holiday party for our Board of Directors. Worked in partnership with the Architecture and Design Museum (A+D) as Project Manager for their ReveaLALA exhibition, a collaboration with the Museum of Latin American Art. ReveaLALA is a public art project consisting of temporary artwork throughout Los Angeles. As Project Manager of our design team, I was actively involved in the planning, development and implementation of an LA County Arts Commission grant funded project, ensuring that we worked within budget, and delivered our community-based programming according to schedule. In addition to the organization of the project itself, I occasionally represented the ReveaLALA team at meetings and events.Design Team:Andrew ByromLara Hoad
