Khizr leads GHG accounting, inventory management and the emissions mitigation strategy for the Government of Northwest Territories in Canada. He is passionate about climate change solutions and cleantech innovation. Khizr is a former cleantech innovator and a mentor to climate solution entrepreneurs across Canada, supporting companies through the Centre for Social Innovation and Foresight Accelerator programs. Prior to climate entrepreneurship, Khizr worked on poverty alleviation and behavior change communication projects, collaborating with international development organizations, including The World Bank, UNICEF, USAID, British High Commission, UNDP, GIZ, and others.Khizr is the co-founder of Jaan Pak - a clean energy company eradicating the use of open fires through clean cooking solutions that create environmental, health and economic benefits. Jaan Pak raised ~ 0.5 million USD in grants from Grand Challenges Canada, UKAID, Inaara Impact Ventures, Dubai Expo 2020, etc. Khizr has a Micromasters degree in Data, Economics and Development Policy from MIT and a Masters in Global Development Practice from Harvard. Khizr's capstone/thesis focus was on decarbonizing transportation in Lahore, Pakistan. Khizr is an Acumen Fellow, a Mentor Capital Network Mentor, an All-Bar-None scholar at One Young World and a SOCAP scholar.
