I am a certified Product Design Engineer with over three years of freelance experience working with SMEs to provide and develop innovative and adaptive garments for patients of all ages.My core values and beliefs as a designer are that design is nothing without inclusivity, accessibility, dignity and that it is adaptive to ever changing global factors. I also believe that medical technology and products should be considered to be made free or affordable and it’s hoped that in the future, it’s not seen as a luxury.Now more than ever, we have the opportunity to develop and/or utilise materials, products, patient pathways and services that allow for a more comfortable and improved way of life for patients receiving ongoing treatment and giving them the freedom to live life without limits within the constraints of science. I fundamentally believe that the future of Product Design lies in the hands of collaborative practice between clinicians, patients and care givers. I’ve found that patients and care givers are the real experts in telling us (R & D teams) how we can make a positive impact and difference in the quality of life patients have whilst receiving potentially life-long cycles of treatments.It is a wonderfully rewarding chosen career path where there is a lot to learn and many landmark moments to share with others from here and decades to come.
