I am a Filipina lawyer and educator currently serving as the Compliance Manager for Web Manuals International — a Malmö-based software company offering a document management system for aviation and other highly-regulated industries.Passionate about learning and inspired by the Swedish approach to education, I immediately joined the academe as a university lecturer after I obtained my MA in Human Rights (Global Political Studies Program) from Malmö University. For nearly four years, I taught international relations subjects at De La Salle University in Manila (2014 - 2018).I was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2017 and worked as a litigation lawyer prior to moving to Copenhagen, Denmark.My career in the Nordic region began with my E-Learning Specialist role at Aviation eLearning where I managed pre to post-sales of an authoring tool for aviation training. This was my first immersion in the SaaS industry and I was fortunate to have been given the opportunity to perform legal tasks, particularly working with tech contracts and GDPR.In pursuit of a role that will allow me to use my core competencies, I joined Web Manuals in February 2021 as the Compliance and Legal Associate. In this role, I saw the immense benefit of my experience in teaching and law. In less than a year, I was promoted to Compliance Manager with the responsibility of ensuring that the Web Manuals Group of Companies (Sweden, U.S., and Singapore) is compliant with applicable laws and regulations, the company’s policies, the management system based on ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 (certified), as well as business and ethical standards.I grew up in Makati City to parents who hail from the Negros Islands in the central Philippines. I lived in Copenhagen for two years before moving to Malmö, Sweden where I now reside.
