An Indian student with a bachelor’s in liberal arts and humanities is a rare sight. As someone who holds that degree with a major in Psychology, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Counselling, it is natural that I adorn multiple hats. My current degree places an exceptionally high emphasis on critical thinking, reading, analyzing, academic writing, and thinking out of the box. In addition to these skills, my degree has equipped me with the core skill of being a counselor: empathy, active listening, reflecting, and summarizing, ethical decision-making, and working with people from different cultures. I am currently looking for a placement opportunity in the areas of family and relationship counseling, working with adolescents, and am particularly interested in Grief and Trauma therapy. Compassion and kindness are my core values and qualities that are reflected in the way I live my life. Hence, my interest in volunteering and service has remained constant since childhood. My journey as a volunteer began when I joined my school interact club. It continued as I joined the Rotaract club of my university, becoming the Director of Paper Drive (a paper recycling initiative) in my first year and heading the club as President in my senior year. Winning the award of Star President at the District Thanksgiving (Rotary International District 3012) 2020-21 only made me more confident of my exceptional abilities as a leader and team worker. I am eager to tackle roles and responsibilities where I am able to use and apply my expertise in psychology. My knowledge of various subjects like consumer psychology, criminology, family and domestic violence, the art of intimacy and attachment, and environmental psychology has enabled me to be useful in a plethora of roles and add to an organization in every way.
